Air Tight Seal Home
New Magnetic Seal
The Magnetic gasket is connected to the Lid with darts that are part of the gasket. You will have a seal that works like your refrigerator door. Just push it up to enter the attic and place it back over the metal strips on the floor and the magnets do the rest.
With a little caulking added to any cracks in the floor, you have created an air tight envelope that traps air and keeps it from entering or leaving your home.
Non-Magnetically Sealed
Foam Weather-stripping is installed around the perimeter of the Lid and provides a seal between the Thermalid and the attic floor. The four EPDM (special type of rubber) straps provide approximately 10 pounds of force each, totaling 40 lbs. to compress the weather-strip and hold the Thermalid tightly against the attic floor. Caulking any cracks in the floor where the weather-stripping is placed helps form an air tight seal, trapping the air under the lid and improving the equivalent R-valve.
